Gardening for Biodiversity: Native Plants for the Northeast

$22

The richly diverse palette of shapes, colors, lifestyles, and chemistries found across native plant species reflects deep-rooted adaptations to dynamic and ever-changing environments. Collectively, this vast diversity provides a powerful hedge against a wildly uncertain future. In a world that feels increasingly off its moorings, gardening in reciprocity with biodiversity grounds us and offers an opportunity to reconnect with life-sustaining purpose and meaning. This guide describes the many dimensions of diversity and suggests ways to return the brilliance of biodiversity to your landscape, one seed at a time.

What’s Inside:

  • Profiles of 57 native plant species and six biodiverse communities
  • Guidance on plant mixtures that build complementarity and redundancy on your landscape
  • Contributed essays on fluidity, adaptability, and community as forms of resilience
